Architecture

Architecture presents a unique challenge for me. Buildings — unlike virtually any of my more regular subjects — are inherently static & unchanging. They don't move, they don't have expressions or emotions, and they can’t point you to their good side. But the very fact that they are fixed in place allows for a depth of exploration that is not always possible with my other subjects. I can return to a building again and again, in different light, in different weather, and each time I will find something new. Sometimes I will return to a location dozens of times to try and capture something about the place that I can feel, but which I am not fully aware of. In the end, when I finally capture that elusive feeling, it is tremendously rewarding.
